Extra Mile Day
Tuscaloosa will celebrate its first annual Extra Mile Day Saturday, designated by Mayor Walter Maddox.
Founded by Shawn Anderson in 2009, Extra Mile Day is a day to recognize the ability to go the extra mile. Only 23 cities participated during the first year, but the number has steadily grown each year. Tuscaloosa will join with 500 other cities designating the new day this year.

Westland mayor looks for residents who go ‘Extra Mile’
As part of Extra Mile Day on Nov. 1, Westland Mayor William Wild is looking for nominations of individuals or organizations making a significant contribution to the community.
The mayor will use the list to select five people or organizations to nominate for the honor.

BERLIN – The city honored six organizations that have “gone the extra mile” to make Berlin a better place in a ceremony at Monday’s city council meeting. 400 mayors to encourage positive change on Extra Mile Day
