Vacaville dedicated Wednesday to recognizing those who go the extra mile in service and volunteering in the community.
“Extra Mile Day,” which Mayor Len Augustine declared for Wednesday, was started by Shawn Anderson in 2009.
“At that particular time, so much was going wrong with the country,” Anderson said, referencing the economy in recession.
